Patrick Crawley, the Sixth Earl of Grantham, (d. after 1895) was the late husband of Violet Crawley and father of Rosamund Painswick as well as Robert. Between October 1853 and February 1856, Patrick fought in the Crimean War with Anne de Vere Cole's father. According to his wife, Violet, the Earl was a great traveller and as a result she "spent many happy evenings without understanding a word."
